Intricate Design and Craftsmanship

Discover the Bamboo Kuripe Jagube, a meticulously crafted snuff tool from the artisans at Tete Pawã. This exceptional piece is adorned with intricate detailing and features a small disk of Caapi vine, also known as Jagube—a name used by various tribes and religious groups in the Brazilian Amazon for Banisteriopsis caapi.

Unique Handcrafted Quality

Each Kuripe is unique, with slight variations in appearance due to the handcrafted nature of the product. This model is made by the expert craftsmen at the Tete Pawã arts and crafts studio, located in the remote upper Juruá region of the Marechal Thaumaturgo municipality in the Amazon. Accessible only by a two-day boat journey or a small four-seater airplane, Tete Pawã is a place where tradition and skill come together to create exceptional handicrafts.

A Legacy of Excellence

Our partnership with Tete Pawã, which dates back to 2014, has consistently brought us top-quality handcrafted items and their renowned Kuntanawa Rapés. The name “Tete Pawã” translates to “Harpy” in the Pano indigenous language, symbolizing the largest bird of prey in the region. Revered as a sacred being by the native peoples, the Harpy Eagle is a majestic and royal figure in their culture. In Huni Kuin mythology, it is an enchanted being created by Yuxibu, the great spirit.
