Founded in the year 2000, MAYA was one of the very first online platforms to offer ethnobotanical plants and shamanic tools to a global audience. Back then, we were pioneers—an ambitious, revolutionary project that marked a moment in time for the worldwide plant medicine movement.

For over two decades, we have served as a trusted bridge between ancestral cultures and modern seekers, always grounded in respect for tradition, authenticity, and the sacredness of plant life.

A Legacy of Connection

Over the years, MAYA grew to become a beacon in the ethnobotanical world, known for its transparency, high standards, and unwavering ethical values. We’ve cultivated long-standing relationships with communities, farmers, artisans, and wildcrafters across continents—from the Amazon to the Andes, the Himalayas to West Africa.

In 2022, a new chapter began. MAYA merged with Sacred Connection, a Brazil-based group deeply engaged in the production and cultural preservation of Rapéh (shamanic snuff) and other traditional indigenous plant medicines. This union deepened our ties to the Amazon and expanded our impact by supporting community-led cultivation, capacity-building, and spiritual preservation among tribal partners in Brazil.

Alongside this, new partners from the Netherlands joined MAYA, bringing cutting-edge knowledge in research and development of plant-based remedies, bio-extraction, and product innovation—bridging ancient wisdom with modern science.

Together, we form a global alliance committed to the integrity, sustainability, and sacred purpose of ethnobotanical work.

Our boots-on-the-ground connection to the forest. Here, we coordinate sourcing directly from tribes and communities, handle production and export, and work closely with our local NGO initiatives.
