The name Tete Pawã translates to “Harpy” in the Pano indigenous language, symbolizing the largest bird of prey in the region. The Harpy Eagle is considered sacred by the native peoples and is revered as a majestic and royal being. In Huni Kuin mythology, the Harpy is an enchanted creature created by Yuxibu, the great spirit.
