Introducing Nukini Rapé – Fresh
In collaboration with our Nukini brothers, Maya Herbs presents a new shamanic snuff crafted according to the rich traditions of this diverse community. With ingredients sourced directly from the Amazon Basin, this rapé embodies the power of shamanic healing!
Made with artisanal rope tobacco and eucalyptus, this blend offers a refreshing experience with a familiar, pleasant scent that helps to open your nasal passageways and provide an immediate sense of soothing freshness.
Ingredients and Benefits
Eucalyptus
Eucalyptus is renowned for its comforting properties and its ability to promote a sense of well-being for the body, mind, and spirit. Used in aromatherapy and shamanic rituals, eucalyptus purifies the atmosphere and enhances relaxation. Though not native to the Nukini region, eucalyptus has been widely adopted in their medicinal practices due to its beneficial qualities and its harmonious combination with other traditional ingredients.
Rope Tobacco
Rope tobacco, also known as Nicotiana rustica, is a powerful component in shamanic snuffs. This variation of tobacco is considered highly potent and is often used in sacred ceremonies and healing rituals. Its leaves are harvested, dried, and fermented before being twisted into ropes and formed into cylinders. These cylinders then mature and are used in the production of traditional medicines.
The Power of Rapé
Using Rapé is a sacred practice deeply rooted in the customs of native Amazonian peoples. It is more than a remedy for physical ailments; it is a ritual and a ceremony. Whether used daily before work, for hunting preparation, or to connect with ancestors and spirits, Rapé holds significant cultural and spiritual importance.
How to Create Your Own Rapé Ritual
- Find a Sacred Space: Choose a place that is spiritually meaningful to you, filled with positive energy and conducive to focus and intention setting.
- Ground Yourself: Take a moment to center yourself. Reflect on what you hope to achieve, what you need guidance for, or what needs healing.
- Measure the Rapé: A pea-sized amount is usually sufficient. You may chant prayers or hymns if desired.
- Prepare the Kuripe Applicator: Scoop the blend into the nose-end of your kuripe, then tap the curved V-peak on a hard surface to eliminate air pockets.
- Application: Place the mouth-end into your mouth and the other end into one nostril. Lean forward, close your eyes, and blow hard.
- Experience the Moment: Feel the strength and power of the Rapé. Hold it in for a few moments before expelling it through the other nostril.
- Balance: Ensure both nostrils receive the medicine to achieve balance. This ritual is one of cleansing; expel any fluids as they may represent spiritual issues you need to release for healing.

Who Are the Nukini?
The Nukini people, residing from the Juruá Valley to the Môa Mountain Range in Acre, Brazil, are known as the Jaguar People (Povo da Onça). They are divided into four clans: Inubakevu (Spotted Jaguar People), Panabakevu (Açaí People), Itsãbakevu (Patois People), and Shãnumbakevu (Snake People).
Part of the Pano linguistic group, the Nukini actively work to strengthen their traditions, reclaiming and passing down their rich cultural heritage to younger generations. This renewal includes teaching craftsmanship techniques, sacred medicine recipes, and appreciating their spirituality.
